Currently, the way telehealth works, clients must be Maryland residents in order to receive telehealth services. With the advent and institution of the Counseling Compact, therapists will be able to see clients in other states that have similarly adopted the Counseling Compact, as the State of Maryland has.
The nuances of this are still evolving so be sure to ask when engaging services. When in doubt, you can always sign on as a coaching client, provided that your needs do not include distinct mental health treatment. That is, if you are looking for career, parenting, or how to deal with difficult people advice, coaching may be the least restrictive modality.
